Whisky expert Matthew Wooler will guide us through our first whisky tasting of 2020.

 

Each of the 5 selected whiskies you will try have been carefully matched with delicious canapes based on the flavour profile.

This year will be our 5th International Women's Day luncheon in the Club, where we are focussing on United Nations SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOAL #5. We invite all Members and your guests to enjoy an interesting conversation.

 

We are excited to welcome our panel for 2020 and look forward to a thought provoking discussion.

 

 

Jennifer Mar Young

Experienced executive in government administration, specialising in cultural diversity, and Aboriginal affairs.

 

Missy Stephens

Board Member of the Foundation for Post Conflict Development, who envision a world where post-conflict communities have access to maternal health and youth programs, promoting empowerment of women and children in order to support sustainable development..

 

Clara Vuletich

Sustainability strategist and designer with an expertise in the social and environmental impacts of the fashion and textile industry.

 

Facilitated by Peter Miller - CEO of NewsMediaWorks.

        Chairman's Shout - welcome new and returning friends to the Club

        All Members are encouraged to join us in welcoming our newest Members.

         

        It is that time again, with over 40 new Members joined since our last new Member welcome evening it is time for another. The perfect excuse for a celebration!

         

        This is a chance for all Members to get together to make everyone feel at home.

         

        Enjoy complimentary refreshments and drinks on arrival. With a selection from our evening bar menu available for those who would like to make a night of it.

        Friday 'Fin' Review with Ky Hurst

        We are excited to welcome super athlete Ky Hurst to the Club for our first Fin Review of the year, in a Q&A with our very own Chris Fydler.

         

        Ky is a multi-disciplinary athlete, having excelled in Ironman, swimming and most recently sailing.

         

        At the early age of 15, Ky became one of the youngest contenders in the Uncle Toby's Super Series, winning three consecutive annual titles. Ky is the only man to have won 7 Australian Ironman titles and is now regarded as one of the best Ironmen in the history of Surf Life Saving. His drive has seen him win 30 Australian surf titles making him the 2nd highest medal winner in the Surf Life Saving Australian Championships and now a proud member of Surf Life Saving's Hall of Fame

         

        In 2005, Ky began to focus solely on swimming after the 10km open-water swim was announced as an inaugural Olympic event. Ky qualified for the Olympic team and was the only Australian to compete in the event at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

         

        At the completion of the Olympic Games, Ky refocused and continued competing in the Kellogg's Nutri Grain Series. After considerable successes, he began juggling his Surf Ironman training with open-water swim training. He set his sights on competing for Australia for the second time at the 2012 London Olympic Games. Ky was one of the first athletes to qualify for the Australian Olympic team and achieved the title of Dual-Olympian.

         

        Once again, Ky returned to the Kellogg's Nutri Grain Series and continued his career in the surf sports arena. After his retirement from surf sports, Ky was selected as the lead grinder on Team Oracle in the defence of the America's Cup. The multi-talented athlete has been training and competing in America and has since returned home to Australia to join the all-new Sail GP in the F50.
