The 2009 Emirates Melbourne Cup will join Tattersalls Club for lunch to celebrate the Cup’s historical 149th year of racing on Thursday 22 October from 12.00pm
 
We are delighted to advise John Letts dubbed the “Have saddle - will travel” jockey is joining us in his role as the Melbourne Cup Tour Ambassador for the Club's luncheon on Thursday 22 October. John is known for holding the Australian record for the number of Cups victories - 106. Among them are two Melbourne Cups on Piping Lane (1972) and on Beldale Ball (1980). A popular and likeable personality, Letts rode more than 1500 winners before retiring in 1988.

TAB Sportsbet Glenn Munsie will MC the event, and will be joined by special guests Ian and Jean Johnson, breeders of Viewed, the 2008 Melbourne Cup winning horse.

Guests can also have their photo with the Melbourne Cup and all proceeds from photo sales will be donated to the McGrath Foundation. These funds will assist the McGrath Foundation with its mission against breast cancer by funding more Breast Care Nurses in rural and regional Australia and educate young women to become 'breast aware'.
