Clubman and Sportsman of the Year

The 2008 Clubman and Sportman of the year was announced at the Chairman's lunch on Thursday 28 May.

Congratulations to Will Phillips awarded the 2008 Sportsman of the year. Will, a regular participant in the Athletic Department was recognised for his main sport, surf boat rowing.

Will's surf boat crew “Big Fish” from Whale Beach Surf club successfully defended their Surf Life Saving NSW State title earlier this year. Will and his crew also won the NSW state title in 2007. 
 
Clubman of the year was awarded to Richard McGrath. Richard is well known through his involvement in many areas of the Club. More recently this has involved the rejuvenation of the Club's Rugby long lunch in aid of The Black Dog Institute with former Wallabies in attendance. Richard initiated the weekly Athletic Department Family day on Sundays and assisted with the Tattersalls Rugby team's participation in the annual Bondi 10s tournament.
