A few weeks ago, we touched on the amazing effort of John De Mestre winning his open water 3km swimming race at the Singapore Masters Games.
John was one of a large group of our Tattersalls Swimmers who competed in Singapore across multiple events over the last few weeks.
With the games now concluded, we can give you a run-down of just how amazing our swimmers are.
In the men’s open water 3 km swim, we had 5 swimmers who all performed incredibly well. Their results are (respective to their age groups):
- John De Mestre 1st
- Chris Fydler 2nd
- Justin Hanby 3rd
- Peter Theil 4th
- James Hickman 7th
After the open water was completed, our next group of swimmers arrived to tackle the indoor racing.
Patricia Reid was focusing on two events, the 50m and 100m backstroke.
The 100 m saw Patricia complete a huge 1.08s PB, placing her 12th overall (in the world for her age group), and then backing that up to produce a blistering 40.6s 50 m backstroke time that saw her be the fastest Australian competitor and placed her 10th overall (in the world for her age group).
The last swimmer to compete was Guy Farrow. Guy, like Patricia, was focusing on two events. With the Tattersalls Team watching, Guy produced a National record-breaking swim to claim Gold in the Men’s 100 m freestyle, stopping the clock in a blistering 58.58s to claim gold by nearly 2 seconds and produce Tattersalls’ second gold medal.
Guy’s next swim, the 50m freestyle, he stopped the clock in 26 seconds, placing him among the top 5 swimmers globally.
These results reflect the amazing work our swim squad has accomplished over the year.
With the next carnival locked in, we are already counting down to see the results the team can produce.
