Australian and Tattersalls swimming legend Chris Fydler made waves at the 37th annual Bosphorus Cross-Continental Swim, finishing an impressive 24th overall in a field of more than 2,600 competitors from around the world.

Competing in the famous 6.5-kilometre swim from Asia to Europe across Istanbul’s Bosphorus Strait, the 53-year-old former Olympian proved age is just a number, outpacing hundreds of younger swimmers to win his age group and claim the title of fastest Australian in the event.

The iconic race, known for its unique cross-continental course and strong currents, drew elite and amateur swimmers alike. Fydler’s performance stood out not only for its speed but also for the stamina and experience he brought to the challenging swim.

His finish is a testament to his enduring athleticism and deep connection to the sport he has long championed—both in and out of the water.
