Ewen McDonald is a coach like no other. Today, we celebrate Ewen’s accomplishment and contribution to the Tattersalls.
This year, the call went out for nominations for the “Masters Swimming Australia Unsung Hero Award”, an award given to those who go above and beyond behind the scenes.
This nomination form was easy to complete, as we know Coach Ewen goes above and beyond every time he steps onto the pool deck.
Below is the transcript from Master’s Swimming Australia’s website detailing the award.
“In the 50th Anniversary Year, on behalf of Masters Swimming Australia (MSA), we extend our sincere and heartfelt congratulations — and most importantly, our thanks — in recognising you as one of MSA’s esteemed “Unsung Heroes” for your invaluable volunteer contributions to the sport of masters swimming.
The MSA Board established this award to honour special individuals who have made outstanding contributions to our sport, their clubs, and their communities over many years.
We invited our States, clubs, and members to nominate individuals who exemplify the true spirit of masters swimming — and you were nominated by Malcolm Turnbull, who noted that, amongst other attributes, you have made swimming great again! Although you might not have the tenure of some of the bigger clubs or the squad numbers, what you do have is care for your swimmers and all those who compete for Tattersalls Swimming, AND you have been instrumental in bringing another 4 ladies into the club, so Tattersalls have their first all-female relay team – well done!
Your dedication to masters swimming in Australia has significantly enriched our sport and fostered a wonderful sense of community spirit. We are deeply grateful for all that you have contributed, and we also extend our thanks to Malcolm for nominating you”.
Please join us in congratulating Swim Coach Ewen for his award and for all that he does for the Club!
