A Little Story
In a whisky world increasingly shaped by automation and scale, Benromach stands apart by embracing an older Speyside tradition: hands-on craftsmanship, lightly peated malt, and patient maturation in a careful balance of bourbon and sherry casks.
Distilled in the small town of Forres, Benromach 10 Year Old reflects a style once common in Speyside decades ago: rich, gently smoky, and beautifully textured.
The whisky is still made with a remarkably personal touch, from slow fermentation to traditional copper pot stills, creating a spirit that feels classic rather than modern. Every sip carries a sense of old-school Scottish character, with warm fires, polished oak, dried fruit, and a whisper of smoke drifting through cool Highland air.
Colour
Golden amber with warm honey highlights.
Nose
Rich sherry sweetness opens first, followed by stewed berries, malted biscuits, and toffee. Gentle notes of orchard fruit, cocoa, and a soft thread of peat smoke linger underneath, with hints of roasted nuts and spice.
Palate
Creamy and full-bodied, with flavours of dark honey, red apples, and caramel developing into layers of dried fruit, milk chocolate, and toasted oak. The subtle peat influence adds balance rather than dominance, giving the whisky depth and warmth without overpowering its Speyside character.
Water
A few drops of water soften the oak and reveal brighter fruit notes of pear, citrus peel, and vanilla cream, alongside sweeter malt and a more delicate smoke profile.
Finish
Long, warming, and elegant, with gentle smoke, cracked pepper, oak spice, and lingering sherry sweetness slowly fading into a dry, slightly nutty conclusion.
