Last week, members and guests enjoyed a fantastic evening at Sydney’s Capitol Theatre for a performance of The Lion King.
Before the show, everyone met at the Club for dinner, sharing pizzas, pasta, and plenty of conversation. It was a relaxed start to the night and a great chance for members and staff to spend time together outside the Club.
Once the lights dimmed inside the theatre, the atmosphere completely changed. The opening scene immediately captured everyone’s attention as the performers and incredible animal puppets moved through the aisles, surrounding the audience and bringing the theatre to life from the very first moment.
The production itself was outstanding. The music, costumes, choreography, and stage design all came together beautifully, with every scene feeling larger than life. There were plenty of moments throughout the evening where the audience simply sat back in amazement, taking in the detail and energy of the performance.
It was one of those shows that reminds you why live theatre is so special. From the iconic songs to the creativity behind the puppetry, The Lion King delivered an unforgettable experience from start to finish.
A wonderful night of good company, great food, and world-class entertainment, enjoyed by all who attended.
Member Reflections:
“It’s not often you leave a theatre and struggle to find the words. The puppetry alone is worth the ticket, you spend the first ten minutes just trying to work out how they’re doing it. Lovely group of people to share it with too. Nights like this are exactly why I value my membership.”
“The dinner was a great touch, it gave everyone a chance to catch up before the show rather than just filing into seats. And The Lion King itself was just stunning. My daughter has been obsessed with it for years and I finally understand why. Already looking forward to whatever the Club has planned next.”
