A magnificent afternoon filled with 100 Members and their Guests was a fitting celebration for the 161st edition of the Melbourne Cup. The day started with welcoming everyone in the Members’ Bar with our spring-themed welcome cocktails, overflowing champagne flutes and fresh oysters while the races began.
Member Andrew Coorey deserves praise for skilfully and with great wit helping everyone settle in before entertaining them till the end of the evening.
The Members enjoyed an exquisite four-course meal including pan-seared scallops, burrata caprese salad, chargrilled beef tenderloin, a delectable charcuterie board, and delish petit fours along with our premium beverages to wash it down with while enjoying the race on the big screen.
The sweeps, betting, chocolate wheel and the best-dressed awards kept everyone enthusiastic throughout the event.
A wave of shock and surprise ran down the room after an outsider, ‘Gold Trip’ won the Melbourne Cup race. The horse racing veterans believe that “In a race lacking the depth of recent editions, Gold Trip’s quality shone through in the slog up the straight”.
The Flemington Racecourse spirit entered Tattersalls Members’ Bar with our joyful lo-fi lawn games thoroughly enjoyed by our Members, which served as a flawless end to the event.
