On Saturday 11 April, Our Tattersalls Swim Team has carried their momentum into 2026 with an outstanding performance at the NSW Long Course State Championships at Sydney Olympic Park.
Led by Swim Coach Ewen McDonald, the team competed in over 30 individual and relay events, delivering a series of exceptional results across the two days.
Alf Moufarrige set the tone early, breaking a NSW record in the men’s 200m freestyle. This was just the beginning, as he went on to claim two more NSW records in the 50m and 100m freestyle, showcasing his dominance across multiple distances.
Not to be outdone, our 2025 Sportsperson of the Year, Paris Zhang, delivered a remarkable performance, setting two NSW records in the 50m butterfly and 50m freestyle, securing gold in both events.
Guy Farrow, our 2022 Sportsperson of the Year, also made his mark, claiming gold and setting a new NSW record in the 50m butterfly.
One of the most memorable moments came when James Hickman returned to competition. Competing in the 200m Individual Medley, he delivered a stunning swim to set a new National record for his age group, leaving spectators in awe.
Beyond the record-breaking performances, a strong contingent of swimmers secured podium finishes in a range of individual events, highlighting the team’s depth and strength.
The momentum carried into the relay events, where the team produced more outstanding results, including an unofficial record in the 4x50m mixed freestyle relay (120-and-under age group), pending final confirmation.
A full breakdown of results and medal tallies will be available soon in the Athletic Department for members who would like to explore the performances in more detail.
Congratulations to all members who competed across the two days in an exceptional display of talent, determination, and Club pride.
