What a weekend it was. A group of members made the trip out to the Central West for three days packed with fine dining, fairways, and enticing cellar doors. Here is a look back at everything they got up to.

Day 1 – Bathurst Golf Club and Mr Lim

The weekend kicked off at the historic Bathurst Golf Club, a fitting way to stretch the legs after the drive from Sydney. Rain followed the group most of the way, but fortune smiled as the clouds obligingly skirted the fairways. Temperatures dropped sharply across the region, leaving players battling the cold as each swing seemed shakier than the last. Despite the chill, it was another successful day on the course, with everyone scoring particularly well.

After a satisfying round, the group headed to Orange to check in and prepare for dinner at Mr Lim, a Korean-Chinese fusion restaurant that proved an ideal warm-up for the evening.

Day 2 – Orange, Mortimer Wines and the Peacock Room

Saturday began at a more leisurely pace. A morning walk through the streets of Orange gave everyone a chance to soak up the charm of the town, browse local shops and work up an appetite for the day ahead. Some of the  group also stopped by the local gym and squash court, and, in a landmark moment for the Club, our first squash player made the trip and took on local competition in an organised round-robin. It was a brilliant initiative that showcases the growing reach of our sporting program, and we look forward to seeing more members take to the court in the future.

The afternoon belonged to the vines. An exclusive tour and tasting at Mortimer Wines, hosted by Daniel and Peter Mortimer, was a clear highlight of the weekend. Their warmth and knowledge made for a wonderful few hours, offering a true behind-the-scenes look at one of the region’s standout producers, with the wines very much doing the talking. On the way back into town, the group stopped at Ferment for more tasting and grazing, rounding out the afternoon with an excellent spread of wines and snacks.

The final evening’s dinner was held at the Peacock Room at the Oriana Motel, a charming venue that made for a memorable send-off. Great food, great company and no shortage of stories from the Weekend Adventures.

Day 3 – Duntryleague Golf Club

The weekend was wrapped up in style with a round at the beautiful Duntryleague Golf Club. Set among magnificent grounds, with members almost having the course to themselves, it was the kind of golf that reminded you why you made the trip. A classic finish to a memorable few days in the Central West.

A huge thank you to everyone who made the trip. The Orange region truly delivered on every front, and we look forward to the next one.
