September Book Club Meeting: When Breath Becomes Air by Paul Kalanithi
30 September 2025 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm UTC+10
When Breath Becomes Air is a true story written by Paul Kalanithi, a young brain surgeon who finds out he has terminal lung cancer. Just as he’s about to finish years of training and start his career, he’s forced to face his own death.
The book is split into two parts. In the first, Paul talks about how he became a doctor and why he was so interested in life, death, and what makes us who we are. In the second part, he shares what it’s like to go from being the doctor helping others to being the patient himself.
Paul writes honestly about the fear, sadness, and love he experiences. He also talks about how he tries to live meaningfully, even with little time left. His words are thoughtful and gentle, and they help readers think about what really matters in life.
Join us in discussing this deeply touching book.
