Last weekend, an exceptional group of members headed to the beautiful surroundings of Hunter Valley, a perfect setting for a weekend filled with golf, premium wine tasting and relaxation.
Cypress Lakes was the first course to test their mastery. We had intended an 18-hole event, yet the weather intervened, with a severe electrical storm and flooding rain resulting in all golfers being ordered to return to the club house, due to the unsafe conditions. During the course of several drinks, it was decided to declare a 10-hole competition on the Friday.
Golf was followed by an intimate dining experience at EXP restaurant, where we were treated to an 11-course dining experience in the private dining room which included many fine wines.
Saturday was a rest day from golf but certainly not a rest day from activities. We travelled by bus to Capercaillie Wines at 12:30pm for premium wine tasting and cheese platters in a delightful setting. This was followed by a premium wine tasting at Tyrrells which included a vineyard tour which was most enjoyable. There was a short rest back at our accommodation, Chateau Elan to freshen up, before attending another intimate private dining experience at Bistro Molines which again, was accompanied by fine wine.
Sunday saw the temperature at 2 degrees for our tee-off at 8:00am at the Vintage Golf Course where many of the early holes were in shade, making scoring cold and difficult. We all managed to complete the 18 holes and gather together for a quick lunch and presentation.
The weekend was a tremendous experience and an opportunity to socialise with fellow members as well as meet new members together with their spouses/partners.

With 13 golfers teeing each day, Jared sacrificed his time to attend and play golf and Josefa was the main organiser also sacrificed her weekend to attend and ensure that everything proceeded like clockwork. A special thanks goes from all attendees to Josefa and Jared for all of their work and assistance.
