John De Mestre is no stranger to this recognition at the Club. Over the years, he has accumulated numerous awards and trophies across a range of competitions in Australia and overseas. His ongoing achievements have made it almost a tradition to see him named as our Athletic Department (AD) Member of the Month.
Recently, John competed in the 5km Cole Classic, which started at Shelly Beach and finished at Manly Beach. He was part of the elite wave and placed 2nd among the 8 invited elite athletes. Once the finish times were collated, it showed that John had placed 3rd overall from over 400 swimmers.
Not stopping there, John also competed in the Aussie Open Water Swim. In the 2-kilometre event, he placed first in his age group with an impressive time of 26 minutes and 18 seconds.
Once again, John continues to show that consistency and hard work deliver outstanding results. Whether in the pool or on the gym floor each morning, he sets a strong example for all members.
