In the 2023 Halliday Wine Companion awards, the Henschke Julius Riesling was named Riesling of the year. Named as a tribute to their ancestor Julius Henschke, a famous craftsman and highly acclaimed artist & sculptor, this old-vine, single-vineyard Riesling was first released by Henschke in 1992.

The Henschke family has been making wines for five generations. So they definitely know a thing or two about each of their vineyards. But when it comes to Eden Valley, it is known for being at a much higher elevation, and as a result, produces wines of great purity and elegance, and a delicious concentration of fruit.

Tattersalls is very fortunate to secure six bottles of this 98 points Julius Riesling. With its combination of intense flavour, lightness of being sharp and an appetising tang, it is uniquely refreshing and delightful to drink in summer, especially with the heat we are all experiencing at the moment.

And apart from this Riesling, Tattersalls is currently holding three bottles each of the following Henschke wines, hidden away but readily available. All 2017 vintages are ready to drink from this year onwards.

  • 2017 Hill of Grace Shiraz – 99 points
  • 2017 Mount Edelstone – 97 points
  • 2017 Hill of Roses – 97 points
