The 4 P’s that make up our July Athletic Department Member of the Month.

James Hickman has taken out this coveted award for going above and beyond what was needed to make our recent Relay meet at Homebush such a success.

The 4 steps that James has reached are:

  1. Precision: Using his years of experience and training James gave up his time to help train and mentor his fellow Tattersalls members in their relay changeovers and turns (despite two DQs for early breaks).
  2. Planning: Working closely with Coach Ewen James helped wrangle members and willing participants to form our super strong relay teams which took gold in 6 events, 2 silvers and 2 bronze.
  3. Participating: James took part in multiple events over the weekend, from mixed medley relays to relays aiming for world records James did it all swimming the maximum of events allowed per swimmer. It’s safe to say James put the team first rather than individual glory.
  4. Performance: Each swimmer could complete a max of 5 events. James swam five relays – two as the lead-off backstroker and three doing freestyle. His effort contributed to four first placings and one-second place, holding the following swimmers in good stead and setting up a nearly uncatchable lead with each swim.

For the reasons listed above and so much more, we are pleased to announce James as our July AD MOTM.

As a celebrated Olympian, multiple world record holder and five-time world champion, we know this award will sit high in James’ achievements.
