Once a year, in the hidden hills of Vinevale, a secret gathering took place. Not of people, but of wines.
It was midsummer, and the cellar doors creaked open as the sun dipped behind rows of grapevines. The long table under the old fig tree was set, polished glasses catching the last golden rays.
First to arrive was Turnbull & Thomas Sauvignon Blanc. A crisp, lively character with a sharp wit and a zest for life. She strolled in barefoot, leaves in her hair, carrying laughter like citrus on the breeze. The others called her “T&T,” and her presence always brought the conversation alive.
From across the sea came Greywacke Sauvignon Blanc, a sophisticated Marlborough traveller with depth in his eyes and a nose for stories. While T&T danced in the sun, Greywacke leaned against the arbor, swirling his glass, murmuring of windswept valleys and passionfruit summers. He had an elegant edge. The kind of wine that left you thinking long after the glass was empty.
Then came Artemis Riesling, soft-spoken and bright-eyed. She was the philosopher of the group. Sweet at times, but razor-sharp underneath. With every word she spoke, a note of lime or jasmine seemed to hang in the air. Though quiet, her acidity made her impossible to forget. The others leaned in when she spoke. She carried truth like a chilled silver spoon.
Lastly, Main & Cherry Pinot Gris arrived with an armful of pears and wildflowers. A touch whimsical, a touch grounded. He was warm and textured, the one who told long, meandering stories by the fire that made you feel something, even if you weren’t sure what. He always wore a hint of spice in his collar and laughter in his throat.
As the stars rose, glasses clinked, and stories poured.
Each wine brought something different to the table — zesty clarity, textured elegance, vibrant wisdom, and soft-spoken charm.
And under the sky, they all understood:
In a world of palates, it’s not about being the best.
It’s about being distinct — and showing up full-bodied.
