Tattersalls had great success with our City Houses Squash campaigns with both Tatts 1 and Tatts 2 reaching their Grand Finals.
The matches on the hallowed parquetry of the Athletic Department Court where some excellent squash has been played over the season.
The Monday night Grand final was a rematch of the 1 v 2 major preliminary final between run-away Minor Premiers Macquarie Bank and Tattersalls 2.
A tight four-rubber contest was played out with Macquarie Bank eventually winning 4-0. However, congratulations to Oscar Austin, Peter Dunoon, Cole Fitzpatrick, Ben Griffiths, Jon Malota, Oliver Quach, William Xu and William Yeo for a great season. They have outdone their team ranking and were a force in their division.
The Wednesday night Grand Final was between Minor Premiers Tattersalls 1 and Bondi Waverley 6. This match again pitted the 1 v 2 for the grade.
Ultimately Tattersalls 1 were victorious thanks to some brilliant squash played by Brian Graham, Alecks Krajcer, Nigel Robinson, Brendan Rook and David Thackery. Bondi were always in the contest though in what was a thrilling and incredibly tight match.
What followed was a somewhat raucous supper with the Bondi team as both sets of players ensured that they were well hydrated for the upcoming Australian Squash Championships which commenced yesterday and run through to Sunday. Again, some excellent squash and racquetball players will grace the Tattersalls Club court (and, on Saturday night, the Dining Room!).
Overall, a fantastic campaign was run by both teams ensuring a highly successful City Houses Squash season. The Club is now looking forward to finishing off the year with the Michelle Martin and Heather McKay Cups and some well-earned Christmas drinks for the squashies!
