Originating in the century-old rivers of Portugal and sent to the Scottish Highlands, the iconic Dalmore Port Wood Reserve was bestowed upon Clan McKenzie. A Clan that prides itself on quality and tradition and shoulders with royalty. Made with exquisite artisanship, the Dalmore has made another long journey across the seas into our historical Club’s walls, earning February’s Whisky of the Month.

Below lists the notes The Dalmore has to offer:

Nose

  • Port, honey, smoke, brown sugar, molasses, and raisin
  • Flamed oranges, raspberry, and rum cake
  • Clove-studded orange, prune, and sponge cake
  • Background notes of vines and berry leaves

Palate

  • Syrupy, full arrival with rum-soaked raisins and prunes
  • Black fruit preserves and dark chocolate
  • Frothy mocha, dried cherries, and roasted chestnut
  • Ginger spice building throughout
  • Cinnamon, white pepper, and cask char
  • Mild tropical fruit turning toward pear

Finish

  • Medium length
  • Creamy chocolate and mulled red wine
  • Roast chestnuts, gingerbread, and tobacco

The Dalmore Port Wood Reserve offers excellent value for those seeking a port-finished single malt with genuine character. It’s proof that cask finishing, when done thoughtfully, can elevate a whisky without gimmickry.
