The Awarding of the Tattersalls Athletic Department member of the month is a highly sought-after award that only a few will receive.

The committee has strict guidelines, stemming from the exceptional standard set in 1983 with our first-ever winner.

November’s Athletic Department Members of the Month blows all expectations out of the water.

Although Richard has been celebrated with lunches and has a trophy named after him, eluding him over the past few years has been the bestowment of the Tattersalls Athletic Department Member of the Month.

Well now, we can take the time to award Mr.Richard McGrath the AD MOTM for November 2024 in recognition of his 50 marathons in the 50 states of America (including Alaska).

When you think of running a marathon you must conquer many things, it takes months of training and dedication, it requires sacrifice and a large amount of personal time.

Add to that mix, international travel, jet lag, a global pandemic, and aliens at area 51 and what is already an arduous task becomes impossible (well nearly).

Richard has conquered them all and then some, the main point of this story is the fact Richard has done the 50 marathons in the 50 states of America, but there are so many more he has completed, from Berlin to Tasmania and even Sydney CBD Richard has done it all.

This award might be a little overdue, but we of course wanted to wait for the right moment to award this to Richard.

Well done on everything amazing you have done Richard- a true testament to willpower and the perfect example of how one single conversation about running a marathon can change your whole life.
