You’d be hard-pressed to find a more fleet-footed and agile athlete in the Athletic Department than our August Athletic Department Member of the month Reiji Sano.

Reiji is one of the disciplined trainers in the Athletic Department, and with technique and focus at the forefront of every session, his drive and determination certainly haven’t gone unnoticed.

First picked to represent Japan (known as the Samurais) in Rugby League in 2018, Reiji has recently been picked to represent Japan in the World Oztag championships.

The Competition was held in Coffs Harbour and involved 18 of the best teams from around the world competing over a three-day period.

Led by Reiji the Japanese team made it all the way to the quarter-finals but were unfortunately knocked out at this stage.
This is an incredible effort considering that the Japanese team had little preparation and training sessions together due to the logistics involved.

In a sign of things to come and even more reason to celebrate Reiji’s achievements, we are thrilled to announce that Reiji will be representing the Samurais in the upcoming October international fixtures in Australia.

Congratulations Reiji on winning the August AD MOTM and for putting in such an amazing effort for the Japanese Oztag team.
