Jason and Dan will take you on a wild ride as they explore the factors that drive audiences, fans, and profit in the wide world of pro sports.
The Major League Baseball (MLB) 2014 Opening Series was a significant event for Baseball in Australia, as it marked the first time that regular season MLB games were played outside of North America and Japan.
The series featured the season opening two competition games between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Arizona Diamondbacks, as well as two exhibition games featuring the Australian Baseball team playing each of the MLB teams. The event was a resounding success. The games were played at the iconic Sydney Cricket Ground, and over a hundred thousand baseball fans from Australia and around the world attended.
Panellist and member Jason Moore is the founder and CEO of Moore Sports International, a sports marketing and Major Sports Events management company. In 2014, Moore and his company played a crucial role in organizing the historic event.
Jason and his team were responsible for coordinating all aspects of the event, including the overall Event creation and procurement of the games from Major League Baseball and the MLB Players Association, State and Federal Government negotiations, Event Logistics incorporating the Baseball Field construction on the Sydney Cricket Ground, Sponsorship, Ticket sales, Event Advertising and Promotion, Local and Global Broadcast coverage.
Thanks to Jason’s leadership and expertise, the MLB 2014 Opening Series in Sydney was a milestone event in international sports history winning both the Australian and Sports Business International Event of the Year for 2014. Jason continues to be a major player in the sports marketing and events management industry, with a focus on commercialising the Assets of Sports organisations in Australia, USA, Asia and UK. Currently, Jason’s new company, Global Sports Enterprises, is currently consulting to NSW Rugby Union and the Waratahs as the General Manager of Commercial.
