When not tearing up the pavement with the famed run club crew, Member Andre François Giroux is the Canadian Consul in Sydney.
With similar economies, Commonwealth ties and committed migrant communities contributing at the highest levels of government and business, there is a lot to be shared and gained from our relationship at all levels.
Those wiser Members in our ranks took the opportunity to have lunch with the Consul and learned about the many connections and similarities between our two great countries. In fact, the first consular mission was set up in 1895, with Australia chosen to be the first business outpost in the ‘new world’.
Essentially Andre François is the link between the Sydney business community with Canadian investors and businesses and the many possibilities they deliver. We were thrilled also to welcome Member Rajiv Parrab, a seasoned international executive, who is, not for the first time, living the experience as the representative for Turkey Hill Maple Syrup. With both participating in a panel discussion, Members were provided insights and introductions for those eager to pursue opportunities in Canada or with Canadian investors.
The link of course to the Club was provided by our exceptional facilitator and Member of the Club’s Business Forum* Matthew Braithwaite-Young who expertly guided the conversation from the rebranding of BOF to matters of commerce and opportunity. (*Newly named working title.)
We were grateful to welcome members of the Canadian Trade Commission and Chamber of Commerce, who were on hand to facilitate connections.
Great luncheon, superb service and wonderful environment.
