As we embark on the 10th anniversary of welcoming female members into our Club, it’s a time for reflection, celebration, and a toast to progress. Join us as we journey back to 2013, a year that marked a pivotal moment in our Club’s history.

In early 2013, our Chairman, Mr. Colin Dunn, initiated a conversation among members about the inclusion of women within Tattersalls Club. Through surveys and direct dialogue led by our former General Manager, Des Mulcahy, members had the opportunity to voice their thoughts and concerns.

After much deliberation, on May 29, 2013, a Special General Meeting was convened. Members gathered to cast their votes on whether to open our doors to female members. The decision was in favour, symbolising a significant stride towards inclusivity. However, to formalise this historic moment, changes to the Club’s Rules were required, which led to a second Special General Meeting on June 26, 2013. Unfortunately, the proposal was defeated, but it was a step forward nonetheless. Over the upcoming weeks, we’ll explore the intricate history of voting, tracing each challenging yet pivotal step that has culminated in the milestone we’re commemorating this year.

Over the past decade, our Club has flourished with the addition of remarkable women who have contributed immensely to our community. The spirit of Tattersalls Club lies in its ability to evolve and adapt, embracing diversity in all its forms.

Cheers to the next decade of diversity at Tattersalls Club!
