Excited to continue sharing our Olympic-related member stories! This time, we had the pleasure of talking to the Polo athlete and Member John Cotterill, one of Australia’s top scorers at the 2016 Olympics, with eight goals to his name.
For John, the Olympic experience was a lesson in resilience, the importance of bouncing back from failure, and the necessity of leaving no stone unturned in the pursuit of excellence.
John’s journey began with a silver medal at the 2003 Australian Youth Olympic Festival before making his international debut in 2006. In 2007, he debuted at the World Championships on home soil in Melbourne. He then secured bronze medals at the World League Finals in both 2007 and 2008. In 2009, John was part of the Australian team that clinched gold by defeating the host nation at the World University Games in Serbia.
