The Clover Club, a timeless cocktail with its origins dating back to the late 1800s, remains just as popular as any modern trend. Beyond its alluring appearance, this gin sour holds a lot more depth and character.

In 1880, a casual dinner gathering of 15 newspapermen revealed the social advantages of their association. They soon formalized their group as the “Thursday Club,” convening every fourth Thursday to enjoy drinks together as sophisticated gentlemen. However, they later decided to rebrand and in 1882, at the Bellevue-Stratford Hotel in Philadelphia, they adopted the more distinguished name, “The Clover Club.”

This exclusive club boasted 35 members from various fields such as law, literature, government, and other prominent domains. As befitting a drinking club, they sought to create a signature cocktail – the ‘Clover Club’ – but the exact inventor and date remain shrouded in mystery. Nevertheless, by 1901, this cocktail had already gained popularity at the renowned Waldorf-Astoria in New York, even though its reputation faced some ups and downs.

The complexity of this cocktail is both intriguing and thoroughly satisfying. So, if you join us tonight, on this fourth Thursday, our team will happily introduce you to this revived gem at the Members’ Bar – a cocktail that will undoubtedly leave you positively impressed.
