The World Cup is the pinnacle of the beautiful game.
Australia secured a triumphant 1-0 victory over the Republic of Ireland in their FIFA Women’s World Cup opener. The match was a spectacle, drawing a record crowd of 75,784 at the vibrant Accor Stadium Australia. Steph Catley’s crucial second-half penalty made all the difference, and despite a tense final 20 minutes, Australia held on for the well-deserved win.
