It’s time to talk about a form of exercise that is not only great for building those little forgotten muscles in your body but also helps improve flexibility, balance, and overall well-being. I’m talking about Pilates!

If you haven’t tried it yet, Pilates is a low-impact form of exercise that involves a series of controlled movements designed to improve core strength, flexibility, and posture. It’s a great workout for all ages, from young adults to our advanced age members.

One of the best things about Pilates is that it is a whole-body workout that can be adapted to suit any fitness level. Here at Tattersalls, our classes are performed on a mat. Our Athletic Pilates class also utilises a variety of small apparatus to provide the body with extra resistance.

For those looking to assist their strength or endurance training, Pilates is an excellent choice. It targets your core muscles, glutes and postural muscles which can help improve your posture, proprioception and reduce your risk of injury.

Another great benefit of Pilates is its focus on breath control. Deep breathing is an essential part of the exercises, which helps you to connect with your body, relax, and de-stress. In fact, many people who practice Pilates report feeling more relaxed and centred after a session.

And don’t think that Pilates is only for women or the super flexible. Men can benefit greatly from Pilates, too, as it can help improve their posture and balance, which can be especially helpful for those who sit at a desk all day.

Plus, Pilates is a great way to have fun and socialize with others. Our group classes really put our members on show at how welcoming they are to new people and it’s a great opportunity to enjoy the camaraderie of a shared workout experience.

So, there you have it, folks. Pilates is a fantastic form of exercise that can benefit everyone, regardless of age, fitness level, or gender. We currently have five different classes on the schedule to choose from, ranging from early morning to lunch and even evening classes.  Why not give it a try and see how it can help you achieve your fitness goals.
