To create Sherry Oak Cask, the Macallan bring new oak from America across thousands of miles to Jerez Spain, where it is matured exclusively in Oloroso sherry seasoned oak casks and crafted before travelling to the distillery in Speyside, Scotland to mature undisturbed in the same casks for 12 years. These whiskies are then harmoniously united with those aged in the very best Sherry-seasoned European oak casks. The delicate flavour of American oak – vanilla, citrus and light oak rises in prominence as the traditional Macallan character of rich fruit, sherry and wood spice affords a familiar backdrop. This is a flavour combination which is guaranteed until the very last drop.
Palate: freshly baked apple Danish and stewed plums to finish off tropical fruits. The Macallan whisky is best served and enjoyed on one ice cube with soda.
