17:30 Wednesday 20 April

Cometh the hour, cometh the coach! Once again, the Athletic Department extended an invitation to super coach Michelle Martin to return to the hallowed floorboards of the Tattersalls Club squash court.

Over six successive Mondays, from 17:00 to 18:30 three groups of (ahem) “elite” squashies honed their finely tuned forehands, backhands, volleys, boasts (shots as well as verbal), serves and returns, all for one purpose and one purpose alone…

Yes, it now all comes down to one evening…Wednesday 20 April 2022. The intermediate class take on those uppity members of the advanced class (with much help from the beginners class) for the inaugural Michelle Martin Cup. Michelle was even asked about it last Monday and she may or may not have said something along the lines of:

“I was the number one world from 1993 to 1996 and then from 1998 to 1999, I’ve won three World Open titles and six British Open titles…but I have never won the Tattersalls Club Michelle Martin Cup…every morning I wake up that is my one lasting regret.”

This shows you, dear reader, the importance that world squash places on this magnificent trophy, Wednesday 20 April – 17:30 to late. Come down cheer with the Underdogs or cry with the Advanced class, but whatever you choose remember one thing and one thing only; on a squash court no one can hear you scream.

Drinks, dinner and sledging after – (the most important bit)
