Good snow helps, weather contributes, but snow and weather are only part of the story. What really lifts a weekend trip to a new level is a diverse and happy group of companions, pleasant accommodation with welcoming and congenial hosts, two stunning windless bluebird days, and brilliant clear views from the peaks of the range all the way down to the golden brown Monaro in the far distance.
Our recent weekend trip ticks all these boxes of bliss and then more. Our group had people who knew Perisher like the back of their hand and accordingly found us the best snow and shortest queues. We had a couple of long-time members, pioneers of the Tattersalls ski weekends who made sure rituals were observed, the best on-mountain bars visited and schnaps were consumed.
Newer members had new stories to tell and friendships to embark on. The Ullr lodge is one of celebrated architect Ken Woolley’s earliest works and its cosey main level dining and lounge space provided the perfect setting for two very happy evenings. Throw in great fun skiing for all levels followed by being part of a boisterous crowd in the Man from Snowy River cheering the Wallabies to a strong win and you have the essence of a truly fun weekend.
To the wonderfully friendly people that make up our Tattersalls group, thank you for your company and for making it a Great Ski Getaway.
